Lying in the middle of the highway<\/div>\n
Watching’em go past<\/div>\n
Gathering dust and mingling<\/div>\n
With the scraps<\/div>\n
On the shoulder<\/div>\n
Lay tormented unpleasant memories<\/div>\n
Leaked out and perhaps deliberately<\/div>\n
Dropped behind by those<\/div>\n
Monsters driven with fury<\/div>\n
In a vain attempt to look like Kings<\/div>\n
With no baggage to lug<\/div>\n
Or courtesy to extend<\/div>\n
Except when making fuel stops every<\/div>\n
Thirty miles<\/div>\n
For that’s how far<\/div>\n
Their might might run<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Just my luck I was dropped<\/div>\n
Right besides the exit<\/div>\n
To the good fortunes<\/div>\n
Left smoldering on the concrete<\/div>\n
As I lay aimlessly by the sewers<\/div>\n
Of toxic competitive waste<\/div>\n
Breathing fumes that once<\/div>\n
Propelled me<\/div>\n
Now engulfing me<\/div>\n
In a pitiful embrace<\/div>\n
As if to make me feel welcome<\/div>\n
“For sure”, it says,<\/div>\n
“you are not the first,<\/div>\n
nor would you be<\/div>\n
the last.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I am the debris sucked out<\/div>\n
Off the back of a<\/div>\n
High-speed beast hurtling down<\/div>\n
Traveling in the right lane<\/div>\n
Or the wrong one<\/div>\n
FWIW<\/div>\n
Thrown out<\/div>\n
Rright in the middle<\/div>\n
So I am now a hazard<\/div>\n
To be hurled curses at<\/div>\n
By every itinerant<\/div>\n
Swerving past<\/div>\n
And mad at my inanimateness<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Never imagined I would<\/div>\n
One day witness from<\/div>\n
The sidelines of life<\/div>\n
How insane it looks to be<\/div>\n
In a race without a finish line<\/div>\n
In a journey with no<\/div>\n
Perceivable meaningful end<\/div>\n
But now that I am a hazard<\/div>\n
To be avoided at any cost<\/div>\n
It makes far more sense<\/div>\n
To reflect and retrospect<\/div>\n
I had to<\/div>\n
Either end up in a junk yard<\/div>\n
Or left behind<\/div>\n
As a matter of neglect<\/div>\n
